CWD a success!!

The families showed up on Monday and were thrilled with the generosity. A big thanks to all the schools and organizations that helped out. And again- great job to all those Letterman's members that came out Saturday to get everything ready.

Meeting this Thursday December 10th

There will be meetings this Thursday before school in the small gym and after school in Mr. Boyd's room (208). If you cannot make one of the meetings you need to see Mr. Boyd or Mr. Leuthauser during the day to pick up information about this weekend.

On Friday, there will be a need for Letterman's members to help organize the Christmas Wish Drive pick up in the staff cafeteria. We will do this after school. Meet in the staff cafeteria by the weight room around 2:30 if you can. This is voluntary. Letterman's members can also stay late Friday and cheer on the boy's and girl's basketball teams as they play their home openers. The girls play Ladue at 5:30pm and the boys take on Fort Zumwalt East at 7pm. We owe the boy's basketball team some good cheer for their help with setting up the fall craft fair. Please plan to attend if you can. It's not required. Admission is $1.

On Saturday the Letterman's Club will be shopping for their adopted families at the Arnold WalMart. Again, this is voluntary, but it's fun. You are responsible for your own transportation for the day. We will meet at WalMart at 9am inside the south entrance (on the left if looking at the building). I will have shopping lists for you. We will wait until everything is gathered then check out from WalMart and head to school. At school we will organize everything in the staff cafeteria for the pick-up on Monday morning. This will start around 11:30am. We will have pizza for lunch and hopefully be done by 1:30pm. If you cannot make it to WalMart, you're more than welcome to meet us at school. The side commons door will be open. If you can only make it to WalMart and not school, that is fine too.

On Monday morning, Mr. Leuthauser's classes and any Letterman's members that have PE in the morning will help the adopted families with gathering and loading their gifts.

Thursday November 19th info

In place of our meeting, I'm handing out the following information-
Saturday morning, December 12th, is when Letterman’s will be shopping for our adopted families with our Christmas Wish Drive. Mark your calendar now if you would like to be part of the fun. It is not mandatory to attend, but it is fun to shop for the kids. We typically meet at Wal-Mart around 9am and get back to school around 11:30am, then we’ll have pizza and set everything up for the pick-up on Monday.
Friday night December 11th- Letterman’s night at the Fox Boys’ Basketball game. We’re repaying the basketball team for their help setting up the craft fair by showing our support at their home opener. This is voluntary, but I think it would be neat to fill the stands with cheering students in their red Letterman’s shirts. Please make plans to attend. Student admittance to basketball games is $1.
We will have another Letterman’s night for basketball on Friday February 5th when both the boys and girls take on Northwest.
Volunteer opportunity- There were a few members not able to work the fall craft fair. To remain in good standing with Letterman’s there is another volunteer opportunity coming up December 4th and 5th. This is also open to any Letterman’s Club members who would like to support another program at Fox. Coach Prater and the Fox Wrestling program are in need of workers for their Ron Sauer Invitational Tournament. No experience necessary and you’ll have a front row seat one of the best wresting tournaments in the Midwest. See Coach Prater in room 305 for more info. Partial shifts are available (similar times to the craft fair shifts).
Our next meeting will be Thursday, December 10th before school in the small gym and/or after school in Mr. Boyd’s room- 208.

Stop by 208

There will not be a meeting on Thursday. Stop by Mr. Boyd's room (208) to get information about shopping for Christmas Wish Drive, Letterman's night at an upcoming basketball game, and a volunteer opportunity for our wrestling team.

Successful Craft Fair

It was another successful craft fair at Fox this weekend. Over 100+ members of the Letterman's Club put their best foot forward and impressed both the crafters and the public with their strong work and courteous attitudes. Many compliments were shared to Mr. Boyd about the great Letterman's kids. And it was for a great cause. All the money raised will go towards our Christmas Wish Drive.

November 5th meeting agenda and Advisory script

There has been a change to the Friday Craft Fair shift. Due to the football game at Fox on Friday night, the vendors will now be dropping off and setting up their booths from 1-4pm on Friday. So instead of 2:30-6:30pm, Letterman’s workers will need to work from 12:30pm-4:30pm on Friday. If you are signed up to work Friday afternoon, please try to make arrangements to cover the new shift. If you cannot get here at 12:30pm, please get to school as close to the new time as possible. It’s a great problem to deal with- having to make accommodations because our football team is so good.
Below is a script for you to share with your advisory. Please make arrangements with your advisory teacher to share the info with your class. Advisories that adopt just one child make a big difference in our success. Please encourage your advisory or extra-curricular group to adopt a child this holiday season. Donating can goods, gently used clothing, or money also goes a long way to helping us provide for all the families that apply for help.
Our next meeting will be Thursday, November 19th before school in the small gym or after school in Mr. Boyd’s room- 208.

Letterman’s Club- Christmas Wish Drive

Advisory Script- November 2015
We’re members of the Fox High School Letterman’s Club, and we want to let you know that Letterman’s Club is again sponsoring a “Christmas Wish Drive” throughout the entire Fox C-6 School District.  Last year we were able to help and coordinate support for over 70+ families in the district.  This year we’re expecting more applications for help than ever.  What we’re asking for this year is your support in any number of ways.
One way is for an advisory (or in partnership with your Connect partner) to adopt a child or family.  You may specify the number of children you would like to adopt and Letterman’s will accommodate your request. It’s expected that adopters spend around $50 per child between clothing and gifts.  Gently used clothing, books, and toys are acceptable. We would get you the information on toy wish lists and clothing sizes for the kids and you can provide however you can.  You can shop for them, bring in gently used items, or donate funds to Letterman’s, as we will be shopping for all the families that were not adopted on the first Saturday in December.  Letterman’s Club spends between $2000-$3000 filling in gaps for the children of the families that we help celebrate Christmas.
Another way to help Letterman’s help these families is by bringing in canned goods and non-perishable foods.  Letterman’s will divide these items so that each family gets their share. Donated items are due Friday Dec 11th.
Another way to help would be to donate funds.  Letterman’s makes over $1000 putting on the fall and spring craft fairs and we also receive donations from local retailers.  We spend all our funds on the Christmas Wish Drive.  This is the most important thing the Letterman’s Club does each year.  Any amount of money would be of benefit.
So please discuss this as an advisory, and your advisor will get in touch with our sponsor Mr. Boyd, as to how you guys can help ensure a Merry Christmas for a family in our community.
If you choose to adopt a child you would get their info before Thanksgiving and the items would be due on Friday December 11th. Pick-up for families is Monday December 14th.
Thanks for your time.

Workers needed Sunday

I spoke to those that worked Saturday, but I wanted to let everyone else know that we need workers for Sunday. We especially need workers from 11am-12noon to help with getting lunch menus and delivering orders to the vendors. If you can help, please show up when you can.

Spring Craft Fair is up and running

The rain finally stopped and shopping at the craft fair has begun. Come up to FHS to see the many items crafters have for sale. A big thanks goes out to the boys golf team and the boys track members for their help on Friday.
