Saturday morning, December 12th, is when Letterman’s will be shopping for our adopted families with our Christmas Wish Drive. Mark your calendar now if you would like to be part of the fun. It is not mandatory to attend, but it is fun to shop for the kids. We typically meet at Wal-Mart around 9am and get back to school around 11:30am, then we’ll have pizza and set everything up for the pick-up on Monday.
Below is a script for you to share with your advisory. Please make arrangements with your advisory teacher to share the info with your class. Advisories that adopt just one child make a big difference in our success. Please encourage your advisory or extra-curricular group to adopt a child this holiday season. Donating can goods, gently used clothing, or money also goes a long way to helping us provide for all the families that apply for help.
Our next meeting will be Thursday, November 19th before school in the small gym or after school in Mr. Boyd’s room- 208.
Letterman’s Club- Christmas Wish Drive
Advisory Script- November 2015
We’re members of the Fox High School Letterman’s Club, and we want to
let you know that Letterman’s Club is again sponsoring a “Christmas Wish Drive”
throughout the entire Fox C-6 School District.
Last year we were able to help and coordinate support for over 70+
families in the district. This year
we’re expecting more applications for help than ever. What we’re asking for this year is your
support in any number of ways. One way is for an advisory (or in partnership with your Connect partner) to adopt a child or family. You may specify the number of children you would like to adopt and Letterman’s will accommodate your request. It’s expected that adopters spend around $50 per child between clothing and gifts. Gently used clothing, books, and toys are acceptable. We would get you the information on toy wish lists and clothing sizes for the kids and you can provide however you can. You can shop for them, bring in gently used items, or donate funds to Letterman’s, as we will be shopping for all the families that were not adopted on the first Saturday in December. Letterman’s Club spends between $2000-$3000 filling in gaps for the children of the families that we help celebrate Christmas.
Another way to help Letterman’s help these families is by bringing in canned goods and non-perishable foods. Letterman’s will divide these items so that each family gets their share. Donated items are due Friday Dec 11th.
Another way to help would be to donate funds. Letterman’s makes over $1000 putting on the fall and spring craft fairs and we also receive donations from local retailers. We spend all our funds on the Christmas Wish Drive. This is the most important thing the Letterman’s Club does each year. Any amount of money would be of benefit.
So please discuss this as an advisory, and your advisor will get in touch with our sponsor Mr. Boyd, as to how you guys can help ensure a Merry Christmas for a family in our community.
If you choose to adopt a child you would get their info before Thanksgiving and the items would be due on Friday December 11th. Pick-up for families is Monday December 14th.
Thanks for your time.
